The appropriate collection, use, and disclosure of patients’ personal health information is important to us at Skilled Lactation Solutions. We commit to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our clients’ information. This policy was last modified on the June 30th, 2026. From time to time we may update this policy and make those changes available on our website.
Collection of Information
We collect information about you and your family that is important to provide you with the best care and to manage our practice. Information is stored in our EHR (electronic health records). PHI is collected electronically, and information collected over the phone will be documented accordingly.
Use and Disclosure
Your health information will be treated as confidential information and used for the direct purpose of your care. There are circumstances where we may be permitted or required by law to disclose your personal information to third parties. For example, insurers, police, government regulatory bodies, tribunals, or courts of law.

Information collected for purposes other than medical care, such as support group meetings or media release contracts with individuals other than clients, are stored in our GSuite and are password protected. Only basic demographic and contact information are used for this purpose.
Data Security
Reasonable steps will be taken to secure your personal health information including some of the following:

Personal devices are password protected and not shared.

Physical documents with PHI, specifically EOBs and other documents from insurance companies, may be mailed to us and are kept in a locked location until able to be scanned and disposed of properly.

If any breach is suspected to have occurred and involved your information, you will be notified in a timely manner.

Virtual consultations take place using a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform, Doxy.me.

As part of our commitment to accurate and efficient clinical documentation, Skilled Lactation Solutions utilizes secure, HIPAA-compliant artificial intelligence tools—including BastionGPT—for the transcription and generation of clinical notes. These tools may process your protected health information (PHI) solely to support your care and facilitate clinical workflows. We maintain strict safeguards and formal agreements to ensure your privacy and data security when using these technologies. Unlike many AI tools, BastionGPT never shares the data from transcription and generation of clinical notes with OpenAI or other third-party AI providers for training. Your data stays secure and confidential within BastionGPT's protected environment. Data encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (AES-256).
You have the right to inquire about, restrict, or opt out of the use of artificial intelligence tools in processing your health information. Please contact us at info@skilledlactationsolutions.com for further information or to exercise your rights.
You are entitled to your own medical records. If you wish to receive copies of your medical records, we require a request via email sent to info@skilledlactationsolutions.com. We will provide you with copies of your medical records within 5 business days.
